Frozen Petals

Crystallized water, a transparent cape
A teasing, flawed sheltering cocoon
Chipped at, cracked, threatened by burns
Melted and reformed, clouded by nicks
Scars shimmering against sunbeams

An icy shield, pressing in at the curves
Harboring delicate life, hints of perfume
Glossing with heat, frozen by bitterness
Buffering pain and betraying touches
Yet slowly, subtly evaporating ... giving way only

To warmth.
